2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners about how visitors use their site. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags. Where we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we mean all such technologies.

4. Cookies and similar technologies we do use

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Site to function and for you to complete the actions you have requested, such as making a payment. They do not require your consent under UK law.

• Stripe. When you proceed to checkout, Stripe (our payment processor) sets cookies that are strictly necessary to process your payment, detect and prevent fraud, and maintain the checkout session. Without these cookies, the checkout will not function. Stripe's cookie usage is described at stripe.com/cookies-policy.
• Netlify. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies to manage traffic and keep the Site secure.
• Privacy choice. A small cookie or local-storage entry records your privacy choice, such as opting out, so it is remembered on this device.

4.2 Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)

Outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors reach and use the Site: which pages they land on, how far they read, where they arrived from, and which marketing brought them here. This sets cookies in your browser, such as _ga, that give your visit a random identifier so we can count it as a single session. We have linked Google Analytics to our Google Ads account to see how our advertising performs, but for measurement only. We do not use it to retarget you or to build audiences.

Google Analytics is provided by Google and the data is processed in the United States. If you opt out, or if you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, these cookies are not set and your visit is not measured this way. Google's practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy.

On a purchase we record that a purchase happened, its value, and an order reference.

4.3 Advertising-measurement cookies (Google Ads)

When you reach us from one of our ads, Google Ads records that your visit, and any purchase that follows, came from that ad, unless you have opted out. This is how we judge whether our advertising is worth running. It sets a conversion-measurement cookie, such as _gcl_au, and stores the click reference Google adds to the ad link.

When you request a free document or complete a purchase, we send a scrambled (hashed) form of your email address to Google, so it can match that action back to an ad click. Your address is hashed on our servers before it leaves the Site, in one direction that cannot be reversed, so Google cannot read it. Google uses it only to confirm the action came from our advertising, never to target you. If you opt out, we do not send it.

What we report is that a conversion happened, and for a purchase its value. It does not identify which product or free document you asked for, or anything about your medical situation.

6. Managing cookies in your browser

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse all cookies, accept only certain cookies, or delete cookies that have already been set. Note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, will prevent the checkout and some other parts of the Site from working.
